Library Policy

A Library Policy is a formal document that defines the objectives, rules, procedures, and services of the library. It helps ensure effective management of library resources and services while supporting teaching, learning, research, and accreditation requirements.

  • The library aims to:
    • Support academic, research, and extension activities of the institution.
    • Provide access to quality information resources in print and digital formats.
    • Promote reading, lifelong learning, and information literacy.
    • Ensure optimum utilization of library resources.
  • The following categories are eligible for library membership:
    • Students
    • Faculty Members
    • Administrative Staff
    Membership is automatically activated upon admission or appointment.
  • • Monday to Saturday: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Reading Room: Extended hours during examinations.

The library shall acquire:
• Textbooks and Reference Books
• National and International Journals
• E-books and E-journals
• Project Reports and Theses

Selection is based on:
• Curriculum requirements
• Faculty recommendations
• Student demand

Renewals (For Students) • Borrowed books may be renewed for another 1 week by returning them to the library for renewing.

• Access is provided only to authorized users.

• Maintain silence in the library.
• Mobile phones must be on silent mode.
• Eating and drinking are prohibited.
• Personal belongings should be kept in designated areas.

• Computers are intended for academic purposes only.
• Misuse may result in suspension of library privileges.

• Annual stock verification shall be conducted. .
• Missing books shall be processed according to institutional rules.

The library shall maintain:
• Faculty publications
• Student projects
• Institutional documents
Digital preservation practices will be followed.

The library shall conduct:
• User orientation programs
• Library awareness sessions
• Database training workshops

Users shall:
• Handle library materials carefully.
• Return books on time.
• Follow library rules and regulations.
• Respect library property and staff.

Library staff shall:
• Provide efficient services.
• Maintain confidentiality of user records.
• Develop and organize library collections.
• Support teaching, learning, and research activities.

The Library Advisory Committee shall review this policy annually and recommend necessary
revisions based on academic and technological developments.

Directives

Library Rules and Regulations

❖ Maintain silence in the library.

❖ Mobile phones must be on silent mode.

❖ Eating and drinking are prohibited.

❖ Personal belongings should be kept in designated areas.

❖ Borrower’s Ticket is not transferable.

❖ The books issued must be returned on or before last date stamped on the due date slip of each book.

❖ A maximum of two books may be borrowed by the student at a time.

❖ The borrower should check physical condition of the document before getting it issued. If any discrepancy found, then it should be brought to the notice of the person seating at circulation counter.

❖ The borrower will be held responsible for any defect/damage found at the time of return of the document, if not recorded on it earlier and will be liable to pay the penalty as per library rule.

❖ Borrowers can get the book(s) reissued on or before the due date if required.

❖ Documents belonging to ‘Reference’ category are not issued.

❖ A borrower is responsible for safe custody and return of the documents borrowed at their name from the library.

❖ In case of loss of document(s) irreparable damage/mutilation of documents, the borrower should replace the lost/damaged book(s) by a new copy.

Reference Section Rules

❖ Document(s) / Book(s) belonging to Periodicals section is only meant for the consultation of reference of periodicals/journals. Reference sources of Periodicals section is not issued out of the library.

❖ Use of mobile phone is not allowed.

❖ Use of mobile or any other electronic device for photocopying and reproduction of documents is strictly prohibited. If found so, strict action will be taken.

❖ Do not bring any documents/books in the reference section. Only pen and notebook is allowed.

❖ Damage to any book or reference collection shall have to be made good by concerned reader.

  • 1. Newly joined teaching staff should submit copy of joining letter while borrowing books first time.
    2. Students must carry ID card and borrower card while borrowing book.
    3. A maximum of two books may be borrowed by the student at a time.
  • Borrowed books may be renewed for another 1 week by returning them to the library for renewing.
  • Periodicals and newspaper are available for use in the library.
  • Borrowers should return the books to the Library on or before due date. If the overdue period exceeds, new books will not be issued to those students.
  • Borrowers should return the books to the Library.
  • Loss of Student ID card must be reported to the library immediately.
